About Me | Charlene Ricketts

As I said, I'm Char and I want to welcome you to CharCats-Creations. I'm so glad you're here. Just wanted to take a minute to tell you a little about myself. I was born and raised in Salinas, CA. I ended up in TN, just north-west of Nashville in 1990 and have lived here ever since.

I've grown up doing crafty things. My mom was always sewing or making things. We made our Christmas ornaments from egg cartons when I was little. I didn't know at the time it was because money was tight. They were beautiful. I think I was 5-6 years old at the time and they let me make a couple. I still have all those ornaments. I learned that you could usually find and make something creative with almost anything. After all those ornaments were made from egg cartons, macaroni, rice, string, beads, gold spray paint and a blue paint for accent. It was fun. It was making something, being creative and enjoying the process.

In the '80's I graduated high school then went on to get a degree in business programming, but never used it. Joined the Army in 1988. From there I met my husband (he was in the Army too). We were married in early 1990 and our son was born in Sept of that year.

I didn't do much as the way of creative things for many years. Full time job. Boy Scout adventures. Life happened. It wasn't until 2008 when I met another mom at a Boy Scout meeting and she talked about scrapbooking. I never knew there was so much out there for memory keeping. You mean it's more than just sticking photos in an album? I now had a reason to do creative things again.

This eventually led me to becoming a Close to My Heart consultant. They are a solid company. No debt. Been in business over 20 years (now it's over 30 years). My friend urged me to become a consultant so we could get the discount on the acrylic stamps- she was tired of running out of vowels with her sticker letters. That was in 2009. Since then I've been telling the stories of our memories, making cards to give, and fun things like banners and multimedia projects to display in my home. It's been a fun journey so far and now I want to share it all with you as well.

Let's tell your stories. Show you how to make cards to give for birthdays and other occasions. Teach you how to make pretty and fun things to place in your home.

Won't you join me?
